The concept for mig33 originated in a library coffee shop, as a way for teens to send text messages as much as they wanted, without the high costs of SMS, by using GPRS/data channel which commonly used to access the mobile Internet.The company was founded on the belief that the rise of IP and wireless technologies would redefine the way people connect and build their relationships and communities. mig33 takes advantage of the shift in the telecommunications industry from managing and tariffing the network, to delivering customer services and value.
Today, mig33 has many additional features beyond just chat, and is a vibrant, mobile community that enables users to connect with friends, meet new people, exchange emoticon expressions, send virtual gifts, play games and have fun. It also connects members to other instant messengers like Yahoo Messenger, Google Talk, MSN Messenger and AOL. The service is available to any mobile phone user and is optimized to work with more than 2,000 handsets that include most Nokia, Sony Ericsson and Blackberry handsets.

Steven is well experienced in developing and delivering successful Internet services for consumers, having first founded Australia’s first online stock brokerage company Sanford Securities Limited, prior to co-founding mig33. Steven is recognized as an authority on contemporary IT issues, with extensive private and public board experience, has served as a keynote speaker and panelists conferences throughout U.S. Australia and Asia. Steven received both a Bachelor of Commerce and an MBA from the University of Western Australia.

Doug has been leading marketing organizations in the mobile and digital space for over 15 years. He currently oversees all consumer-facing activities for mig33. He brings expertise from leading strategic marketing and digital agency Digitas Modem in San Francisco, (Managing Director), rebranding Vodafone globally to be the world’s largest mobile brand (Global Director of Customer Marketing), and McKinsey & Company. Doug has an MBA with distinction from INSEAD, and an MA in Physics from Oxford University.

Vice President of Marketing & Co Founder

Mei Lin oversees the global marketing and communications at mig33. She has 9 years marketing and communications experience, including influencing the growth and sustainability of Australia’s first online stock brokerage Sanford Securities, As co-founder of mig33, she was responsible for driving customer growth and heavily involved in the product development process during the early growth stages of the business. Mei Lin has a Bachelor of Commerce Degree with Honors in Marketing from the University of Western Australia.
